Justin Bieber surprise 'SNL' appearance on February 5: Set the DVR
It seems Justin Bieber is everywhere lately, and now the latest place the teen heartthrob is supposed to be is
Saturday Night Live. That’s right, the young singer may actually stay up late to be on SNL tonight. He is in New York promoting his new 3-D movie
Never Say Never, which will hit theaters Friday, February 11.
What exciting news for Bieber’s young fans in Oklahoma City and around the nation! Unfortunately, most of his fan base will long be in bed by the time he makes his appearance on the late night show. However, parents have the chance to thrill their daughters by recording tonight’s episode. That’s right! You can be a hero by simply setting your DVR to record NBC channel 4 in OKC at 10:29 p.m. tonight.
As of now, there are no details on if Justin Bieber will sing on the show or if he’ll be in one of the funny skits, but whatever his appearance brings, it is sure to be a major hit with fans. During the 16-year-old’s last appearance on the show, he sang and appeared in two sketches.
Justin Bieber's reported "SNL" appearance on Saturday will continue his invasion of television. Apparently Bieber's "SNL" appearance will be a cameo, but it's unknown if it will be during a skit, during the opening segment from host Dana Carvey, or during the "
Weekend Update" portion of the show. This is in addition to all of his daytime and late night talk show appearances.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of an appearance by Bieber, and it comes just days after he appeared on "The Daily Show." That appearance was extremely funny, as the
opening credits ran, the camera pulled back, and suddenly it was Bieber sitting in the chair instead of host John Stewart. It turned out to be a funny skit to open the show, but it showed that Stewart (once again) is still good at poking fun at himself.
All of these appearances by Bieber are of course tied to his film "Never Say Never" coming to theaters soon, and it is working pretty well. He is really doing a good job at crossing demographics, but it's hard to believe that many viewers of "The Daily Show" are actually going to go see "Never Say Never" now. Hopefully he just had fun doing the guest appearance, because many fans of Stewart certainly did.
When Bieber appears on Saturday night (if
THR got it right), he is sure to be there to plug his movie one last time. Maybe he will play a younger version of Dana Carvey in some form during the opening monologue, or maybe he will just be there as himself to discuss something during "Weekend Update." Either way,
NBC has to be pleased Bieber wanted to be on the show because more of his fans will tune in to find out than if it had just been a regular episode.
